Question the GOOD parts of Penn Hills?

I've seen alot of threads on here arguing about the bad parts of Penn Hills versus the good parts of Penn Hills. Which areas are good? How about up near Verona and the area bordering Plum by the Alcoma country club just west of the tracks, and by 76? I've lived in Pittsburgh for 5 years now, but lived in Oakland, Ross, and McCandless. So I'm only pretty familiar with the north of Pittsburgh (including bellevue, sewickly, etc.) Although, I've worked in McKees Rocks and familiar with Greentree/Crafton area. But have NO IDEA about the east part of the city. Curious really on Penn Hills and Plum because I want to look all over the city.

scrtgrl3,
Hi, the areas in penn hills would depend on what your need would be. Some are good and bad, but that depends on how diverse you are. Penn Hills is a large area that borders places live Monroeville,Churchhill,East hills(homewood),Plum,Oakmont , just to name a few. What type of neighbors do you want? All white, all black, all young, all old, mixed, gay, high class, low class, middle class, spanish, asian, I could continue in this manner, but you get the idea.
Penn Hills is a diverse area to live in and and raise children. I happen to love what Penn Hills has to offer my family for the past 18 years, but I am active with my childrens schools and community. Maybe our town would not fit your personal needs, but as a upper middle class worker, if that a classification , I love being part of the the other side of Penn Hills that others neglect or forget- we are part of the same community. Maybe you'll be comfortable as one of my neighbors-we all care about our homes and children-check out the forgotten area of Penn Hills(east,I believe of rt 130,the bad section as refered to by realestate brokers. Ask them to show you Penn Hills and see where they take you based on your color, not your bank account.
Happy Penn Hills hunting-most diverse area -with all the normal issues facing us in todays world. For your knowledge, my family is white and we don't see or treat people as colors, but as a person worthy of our friendship and neighbors.
Have a great day.
