Default Canonsburg summer housing

Greetings,

My buddy and I have an internship at Southpointe this summer in Canonsburg. We have had one heck of a time finding anything near there with a short term lease. ...So my question: are there places I am missing? We have looked on Craig's List, Rent.com, etc. and can't find anything. Also, what would the commute be like if we lived in Pittsburgh?

We are from Oklahoma, so this is foreign country to us.

Thanks.

Try the Bridgeville area. It is an easy commute and has a lot of apartments.

Did you place a free wanted ad in craigslist? There are college students with yearly leases that often like to sublet when they go home for the summer. Finding a short term rental isn't so easy.

Pittsburgh city to cannonsburg would be like 40ish mins in rush hour though it would depend on WHERE in pittsburgh you were coming (basically promixity to highway and ability to get out without running into traffic)... its kind of far and there will be some congestion on the road but you won't have huge traffic jam spots since you're coming out of the city. It would be more like 30 without any traffic. You'd probably have decent luck finding a summer sublet type of thing in the city. Oakland (where U Pitt is) has pretty easy access to the highway but some spots of it are definately sketchy. Squirrel Hill would work okay too.

My wife used to drive to Cannonsburgh from the North Hills (ross township area) daily... took about the same amount of time.

You'd probably have more fun living in the city, but pluses and minuses to either approach.

Default Help and a warning

Did the online gig when I moved here 2007. Your best bet is to come down for a weekend and write down the yard signs, they don't have the overhead to advertise, but there's some with great prospects.

I took interest in a co called JJ Land 412 363 1033

and if I may heed some caution:
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MCKEE PLACE APARTMENTS ( PITT BLUE PROPERTIES / CLOVER MANAGEMENT.)
Im so close to gone from them I can taste it.

It just depends what you are looking for... if you are looking to do your internship and not much else, definately not. If you are looking to have fun and go out and meet people while you are here, you might be happier in the city but its a trade off that may or may not be worth it to you. It's definately doable if you don't mind the drive.

I agree that you should look in Bridgeville, actually South Fayette. I believe the apts previously mentioned are in SF, even though the address is Bridgeville. You will be very close to Southpointe. There are always lots of condos and townhomes in the area for lease.

This is out of left field(sorry for that), but I know some people rent out rooms to the Washington Wild Things players for the summer, some even in Soutpointe. It's possible that the Wild Things have a list of people willing to rent out rooms. Worth a shot.
