Curious if anyone know of spaces in the Pittsburgh area, preferably northwest of the city (North Hills area) but even a drive is fine, that offers Commissary Or Commercial Kitchen space for rent? My wife has always wanted to bring her Salsa to farm markets in the summer but would need somewhere to prepare. Given we have a dog, setting up anything in our home is out of the question.

Sadly that place closed about 2 years ago. It would have worked fine for us, I had been there a few times as I love indoor markets like that. Not much around here but Columbus and Cleveland both have nice ones.

Yeah that is the problem, these places just dont last. I've searched here and google, most any thing old is worthless info. True community kitchens advertise but there seem to be none at least within a decent drive of NW Pgh. Was hoping someone might have known of a place that was open to sharing but they rarely advertise it since its not really their main business.

I would start by asking a few of the bigger churches. I have worked in a few that have had commercial kitchens in them. Both churches on station street in bridgeville, the catholic church on the corner of route 88 and 51. They maybe able to help you out.

This is a great idea. Even smaller churches could have commercial kitchens. I doubt a Catholic Church would do it unless you are a member and very active, but maybe a protestant one would without being a member.

Now that's a religiously charged statement! Just kidding.

St. Stan's in the Strip had a killer kitchen but they sold the building facility to the Altar Bar people.

I want salsa now. I would love to be a taste tester.

Yeah she really makes good salsa, she grew up in Cali and every party everyone asks her to bring it. Salsa is pretty simple really but fresh is so much better.

Local churches might be a good option, I'll tell her. There is one kitchen over past Shaler but this isnt a large scale operation and being it is fresh you cant really make a large batch more than a day ahead so driving over there weekly+ doesnt make much sense when you factor the total time/cost for really a hobby
