It is interesting how wild the contrast is as the Pagan's MC members really seem to have no rights at all. Imagine if this incident was anyone else and all the protests that would be taking place if this wasn't members of the Pagans. Clearly there is NO equality in justice.

I guess this is okay since they weren't a protected group for sure. Interesting contrast though.

I've been following this in the Trib and each Pagan has a lawyer and apparently, bringing legal action against the cops. Initially, the Pagans were jailed.......until the video came out at which time they were released. What frightens me is that most likely, the Pagans would still be in jail if that video hadn't surfaced. If you're thrown in jail for an accusation like this, you're not getting out unless there is a video or you can afford a very good attorney, and even then it's problematic. It's also interesting that the bar owner was more afraid of the cops than the bikers.

So your take-away is that it's a shame the community isn't rallying around the Pagans like they would a minority? What a waste of energy and an avoidance of the real issue.

The only people who think this is ok are cop apologists. This is criminal behavior by the Pittsburgh Police plain and simple. F these cops and the DA who protects them.

True. Luckily there was a video showing the drunk cops. It is scary stuff. I'll admit no one cares because they are in a 1%'er MC, but still people do have rights. I don't feel cops should be able to provoke in this manner. I side with police often, but I do feel they can't go over the line like in this case.

Ah well, no one cares much about this one. No one is going to protest for any 1%'er like they do for some other groups that are in crime as well.

I definitely support police in general. They are put in some difficult positions and have to deal with all kinds of crap. However, there are too many instances where police not only abuse their power but are outright criminal in their own behavior. You see stories like this every day. The reasons or solutions to the problem never seem to be addressed, hoever. Rather, you get an apology and statement that instances like this should never take place and won't be tolerated. That doesn't do anything. You would hope that leadership everywhere would start looking at hiring practices and people they target to become police officers and eliminating the bully mentality. Even if you hire people that are more reasonable and perhaps more sensitive, getting them to stay that way when surrounded by a culture that is overbearing and arrogant is a tough nut to crack.

I was appalled by the decision not to file charges and e-mailed the DA's office to share my opinion.

I will say that 'police reform advocates' also didn't have anything to say about Pittsburgh Police Officer Ronald Hough tazing someone at Villa Real downtown as some sort of 'joke' and being allowed to retire and keep his pension without facing charges, nor did they have anything to say about Daniel Adelman's head being bounced off of the sidewalk outside of PPG Paints Arena by the Pittsburgh Police.

The biggest gang in Pittsburgh is the Police, because when the entire barrel is tainted when the bad apples aren't tossed out. Its scandalous that the DA holds police officers to a lower legal standard than citizens are held to.

It also just makes me shake my head when 'police reform advocates' only care to engage in protest when the victim of police misconduct (or alleged police misconduct) is of a certain race - but then when folks like me complain about their tactics of trapping people on the Parkway, I'm the one accused of being a racist.

Pagans are jags for sure, but corruption in the police force is still at an all time high. But hey, at least we got rid of that goody two shoes McLay right?

You hit the nail on they head. They are literally a gang. If cops got into a fight with a fight with a bunch of Crips, this thread would be VERY different.

I think the biggest difference is there would be massive protest if they were Crips. Lots of riots and maybe looting.

i just want to point out - they were SOME city cops. not all police employed by Pgh are wasting their time at a bar, loading up on alcohol because that is just what meatheads do.

i bet there are pgh police that bite their lip and say nothing when asshats like those in this notorious case run around, making trouble.
