Default Dormont or Coraopolis ?

Hello,
I have a kind of a bet going and I wanted to see what the people native to Pittsburgh thought. Here go's:

You have two houses, one in Dormont next to train tracks and one in the upper crust of Coraopolis. If both were well kept, well priced and advertised the same amount. Which house do you guys think would sell first?

The house from Coraopolis?
or
The house from Dormont?

In preparing to move to Pittsburgh ourselves, we looked at Dormont and Coraopolis/Moon areas, and picked Dormont (or actually now, Mt. Lebanon), because it's closer in to the city proper, and has alot more old-city charm than the outer suburbs. Housing stock is great for the money, and public transportation, much more accessible.

So, I'll vote "Dormont", too... and, for the record, at the top of the forum, you'll find a sticky with info on Dormont as well as other areas... we had the mods sticky it there, specifically for people looking to relocate to Pittsburgh, so you can have a readily available source of info & links....

Cheers!!!

Surprising results. All things equal I figured a house next to mansions would beat out a house next to train tracks any day. But you guys might be right. The verdict is still out, I will have to post back later.

By train tracks, do you mean light rail? That could be a selling point, if the person's interested in public transit or works in the city. I live near the T line in Beechview, and it's not noisy and it's very convenient.

I agree; the "T" isn't loud like freight tracks or anything, and the ease of transport into the City Center make it a very desireable locale...

I'd also vote Dormont. Generally, with energy prices up and congestion an ever-growing problem, inner suburbs have become some of the hottest neighborhoods in many cities, particularly if they have walkable commercial areas and public transit links to the central business district (and/or other employment centers). But for various reasons homes in these areas are relatively scarce compared to homes in outer suburbs, so they tend to sell more quickly.
