We've definitely heard the "dirtmont" comment before, and it is certainly not entirely undeserved. I can recall several times driving back from the East End (particularly Squirrel Hill) and being slightly discouraged by the urban tableau as we came up West Liberty into Dormont.

I also recall when we moved into our home, and I apologized to our neighbor that we were then-using old porch furniture that I got from a relative. The neighbor, who happened to be a teacher at one of the prestigious East End private schools remarked: "Well, it's Dormont." So, I think residents are somewhat resigned to a shabby not-quite-chic aesthetic.

Nothing really, there are some great houses and great public transportation from most parts of it. The only thing I hate about Dormont is West Liberty Avenue and how the side streets are staggered so it creates a stop lights and traffic.

I find Dormont more appealing than 95% of Pittsburgh suburbs.

Taxes are insane. I like it there, but wouldn’t move there due to tax load.

All you have to do is report it to Yac and he should know who sent it.

Calling people names doesn’t help any situation, however.

A fair amount of people on city data seem to like using the rep system to make passive aggressive comments.

i made a harmless jab at bernie sanders, and was repped something like : "dont be as assh*" or something close to that.

in the past i had another rep that was some personal insult because of a contrarian post to whatever discussion it was.


both times my first thought was this person has a narrow worldview, with no understanding that people have valid, different perspectives, yet this person has NO IDEA of this, and therefore believes him/herself to be some tough guy.
