Our oldest daughter wants to move to Pittsburgh or the suburbs. She needs to get to the airport a few times a month, but will have no real commuting beyond that. Some walkability would be nice. Where would you buy?

Thanks!

Does she expect new construction with all the amenities, or would she be okay with an older place with a bit of character? Does she want to be in the city or in the suburbs?

Many variables but if the budget is $320k there should be some good options out there. If you are only needing to goto the airport a few times a month and no real commuting outside that it shouldnt really limit the area. If she doesnt mind a 45 min drive to the airport since it is not often most areas would be ok, if she wants more like 30 min or less maybe a little less of the east. If you give some more wants you will get some good options.

Also since the only other specific is walkability that would narrow it down but what would she want in terms of walkability? Nightlife, restaurants, parks, grocery, etc? We live in Ben Avon which I wouldnt consider walkable but we can walk to a local coffee shop and park and a small diner. The first place that comes into mind if she didnt want to be in the city or have nightlife would be Sewickley which is very walkable with nice downtown area and maybe 20 min to the airport. More of a family area though and that budget could work but many homes would be above that range.

Unless you want something new in a newer more recently developed suburb, you have plenty of options with that price. Maybe Green Tree could be worth looking at though, it would offer a pretty painless drive to the airport and is also very close to the city.

Yes Greentree there are walkable areas and more options than Sewickley in that price range, a little more urban if she prefers but not city but a little closer drive if she wants to be near the city

You won't get much, but if you can swing Sewickley or very near there. Love that town.
