It happened at about 11:40. See here for details. Two women were stabbed, one survived, the other did not.

Initial reports are that both of the women who were stabbed were wearing hijabs. Unclear as of yet if this was random.

Pgh Police put out a statement. The woman who died was NOT wearing any sort of religious clothing. The second woman, who seems to be unknown to the others involved, may have been and seems to have been just passing by.

The story itself is crazy and sounds drug induced, but who knows.

I saw that on the news today and was thinking, geez someone stabs two women. Why? Seems so odd.

I don't think I have ever seen you post a crime thread before. It is an odd case though.

Heard about it a few hours ago, and no one else had done so yet. Seemed worthy of discussion.

I guess the letter by the Pittsburgh cultural trust to Peduto about pedestrian safety on the decline was nothing but a big lie.

I have a feeling the initial story with the religious clothing got on the wire and went nuts. Now we don't know if the target had religious clothing on or not. Wonder what the story is?

The guy looks like one of our many downtown residents who 40 years ago, would have been a resident of Mayview, Woodville, or Dixmont.

The current reports describe it as a random act of violence. I thought violence downtown was just targeted at certain people, gang on gang? It looks like another myth about the downtown violence is debunked.

Itís just sad man. The violence in downtown is not a good thing. If it escalates I can see businesses leaving for the suburbs or more people working from home. The mayor better start paying attention. It could cost the city dearly.
