Default Scott Township Rental *Help*

Hello,

I read this forum often and find it incredibly informative. I have a question and was hoping that I could receive some feedback.

My girlfriend and I lived in Jamestown Court in Greentree off of Cochran road for nearly a year. Our landlord decided to sale but we loved the area and are looking to find something very near there! We are not looking to spend over $750 a month and have ran into trouble finding a rental in the greentree area for this amount.

I came across a place for rent on Craigs list - 1149 hope hollow road. It is advertised as being located in Scott Township but it appears to be a Carnegie address to me. The location was only 1.6 miles from my old residence (114 Jamestown Court) and about 3 minutes. Now Jamestown Court was a condominium association and was extremely safe! My main concern about the rental at 1149 hope hollow road is that it is located 1.14 miles from Carnegie Towers! - which I hear is terrible. Safety is my primary concern as I am a traveling professional and leave my girlfriend at home often. We are both 25, and would love to find a nice rental in greentree - but it appears house rentals in greentree are limited all together. Do you think the proximity of the location to Carnegie Towers is a concern? I am looking to move into a place by May 1st, but may pass on this property. I will await feedback. Thank you again

John

You absolutely won't have any problem from the Towers over on Hope Hollow. It's a windy, hilly road, and far enough away from the Towers that no one from there will ever venture over there. No sidewalks and lots of steep driveways up to houses.

It's a great location for everything, but it doesn't have much of a neighborhood feel. Plus, I know the traffic on there can get kind of crazy during rush hour, but I would consider it a safe area.

Thank you very much WG. I appreciate the insight. I am actually going to look at the place today so I was hoping to hear some peoples thoughts before I decided on signing a lease. Thank you very much.

Instead of starting a new thread, does anybody know why there are virtually no house rentals available anywhere in greentree? I check craigs list daily and come up empty handed over and over again.

This is a good question. I live right by Greentree and I don't think I've ever seen/heard anything about a house being for rent. I'm not sure why this is, though.

I just think Greentree's more a suburban-ish area where houses are lived in by the owners, not rented out, and apartments are in complexes, not in converted houses, like other neighborhoods.

i lived in this area for 15 years. the greentree area is mostly homes not for rent, and has VERY few apts. hope hollow is ok. i know the house you are looking at. it is old, and probly slightly run down. and its pretty far from the towers. you would really only need to worry about that if you were moving to carnegie, or east carnegie. id stay away from GREENTREE CITY. search craigs list. if you like that area, its just a scoot over to mt. lebo from where you were at. lebo is really cute and is a little more secluded and less busy than jamestown. i found the listing below on craigs list. search scott twp, green tree, mt. lebonon if you like the area. they all touch around the same spot. found this on craigs list: hope this helps
