First Fridays at the Frick (all summer)
Bach, Beethoven and Brunch - Mellon Park, Shadyside - summer Sunday mornings
Gay PrideFest (June 15 - 22)

So many festivals, gallery crawls, pub crawls, art shows, concerts, and theatre that they can't all be listed here. I swear there's something every weekend.

There are free concerts at Hartwood Acres and South Park, some local bands, some national acts, and Pittsburgh Citiparks has free family-friendly movies in parks all over the city. Schedules for this years concerts and movies aren't up yet, or I'd post.

fireworks
Yes, Pittsburgh has awesome fireworks.
You can see Zambelli fireworks after Pirates games on May 23, June 20, July 11, Aug 14-16, and Sept. 19, as well and there will possibly be fireworks during the regetta.
I'm still disappointed that I missed the 4th of July fireworks in 1993 when they did 2 grand finales because of a failure in the grand finale of 1992.

regarding best fireworks in America
Regarding the previously posted list of best fireworks in America. It seems to deal with entire July 4th events not just fireworks.
I will only speak of what I know..Pittsburgh July 4th Fireworks are WAY BETTER than Houston's (which is on the list). In my opinion, the Houston downtown fireworks were not even worth traveling in from the suburbs to see.

LOL! I believe they are actually from New Castle. One of them is an eye dr (opthamologist, sp?). Probably didn't want to go into the "family business".
I have seen the Pgh 4th of July fireworks and they are awesome. Have never seen any of the others on the list posted by smokecitytdi.
