I asked in a post but no one responded ~cry~, are there any cool events you guys know of happening for Memorial day?
What is the Hwy that comes in through Fort Pitt Tunnel? I gotta see that first
This one should get some fun responses, what is teh first resyaurant we shoudl eat at (anywhere in the city ya'll want)?
One I haven't seen covered yet, deserts! Where is the best icecream in the city? How about cheesecake ~Homeresque moan and drool~? Or something different. Ya'll sound off!
We are buying tickets for the Cubs game Sun. I don't know the park. How is the Pirate's Cove section? If you were getting tickets, where would you buy them?

For really big luscious desserts of all kinds, try Gullifty's in Squirrel Hill. I don't know about cheesecake, but for ice cream try Dave & Andy's in Oakland. The hubby and I also enjoy Rita's Italian Ice, which is found in several different neighborhoods including Squirrel Hill, Oakland, Millvale, South Side, and probably other places I don't know about.

I think most of Point Breeze feeds into Allderdice H.S. of Pittsburgh Public Schools. I don't know the elementary or private schools. I'm not sure what the street situations are in Regent Square but not all of it is part of Wilkinsburg. There's a few people on here that live in Regent Square and will probably be able to link you to street/school district information.
I asked in a post but no one responded ~cry~, are there any cool events you guys know of happening for Memorial day?
I know there's a website with a lot of happenings around the city:
Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership
You can try WPXI.com - Pittsburgh.com also.
I know Kennywood ( Make a New Memory at Kennywood Park, Pittsburgh PA ) is pretty happening on Memorial Day.
What is the Hwy that comes in through Fort Pitt Tunnel? I gotta see that first
Locals refer to it as the Parkway West but as of right now it's I-279 North and carrying US-22 and US-30. It will soon be I-376.
This one should get some fun responses, what is the first restaurant we should eat at (anywhere in the city ya'll want)?
Depends what YOU want...but a pretty common sandwich place known as Primanti's is pretty great. There's one on Forbes Ave. in Oakland and quite a few others scattered around the city and burbs( Primanti Brothers Restaurant - Pittsburgh's Most Famous Sandwiches )
One I haven't seen covered yet, deserts! Where is the best ice cream in the city? How about cheesecake ~Homeresque moan and drool~? Or something different. Ya'll sound off!
For ice cream, I'll suggest Dave & Andy's in Oakland. That's the reason I suggested Primanti's in Oakland as they're like diagonally across the street from each other (maybe a block or 2). Dave & Andy's is 207 Atwood Street.
We are buying tickets for the Cubs game Sun. I don't know the park. How is the Pirate's Cove section? If you were getting tickets, where would you buy them?

Pirates Cove you can check out on this seating chart ( The Official Site of The Pittsburgh Pirates: Ballpark: PNC Park Seating Chart - 2008 )
I usually buy tickets for whatever decent section a scalper will give me a good deal on I suggest parking downtown and walking across the Roberto Clemente bridge. Parking is usually cheaper there (I wanna say 5th or 6th...I can't remember the streets exactly as I just know them to drive to as opposed to giving the directions) and it's nice to walk across the bridge if the weather is nice. Also, traffic getting out is pretty easy Downtown.
WELCOME TO THE BURGH

Seats along the third base line offer the best views of the skyline. Pirates Cove is in the outfield and faces AWAY from the skyline view, so you will basically be sitting with your back to the view. I always spring for the $27 to get a Club Level view (and access to better beer and cleaner restrooms). By far the best seats in the house are section 220-222 (club level) and 321-325 (a bit cheaper).

With little kids, you might try an Eat 'N Park for a restaurant. They're cheesy, but they're local cheesy. They have these cool smiley face cookies, too!

Its not ice cream, rather Italian ice. They also sell custard, or the mix of custard with Italian ice. Its good stuff regardless, especially the black cherry.
Only go to eat'n park if you like low quality food.

I was actually going to suggest the Cheesecake Factory, too. It's by no means local but their cheesecake is amazing. If you've never been and want to go...there's 2 in Pittsburgh...1 on McKnight Road and the other in the South Side Works.
Also if you get time and want to check out Mt. Washington...ride the incline at night. Great views of the city.

There are lots of choices for food in Pittsburgh... my top two choices would be Monterey Bay Fish Grotto for "fine" dining as the food is great and it has an awesome view of the area (Mt Washington) and Fat Heads (South Side) for bar type of food as it has a ridiculous number of huge sandwiches which are pretty much all good, a huge beer selection (like 40 on tap) and great wings.
You probably need a reservation at the Fish grotto... fatheads isn't a reservation type of place, but you might have a long wait during prime time.
