Massive shortage of tradespeople now. Try getting anyone these days is difficult. Plus kids saddled with college tuition debt, etc. Being a plumber or HVAC or electrician can pay very well.
This is not a new problem but has been going on for decades, when i entered the trades in the 90's i was looked upon as a loser because i didn't go to college, i was told by guidance counselors that i wasn't living up to my potential. When my son decided to enter the trades (different field than me) i made him go to ccac because kids now don't have the maturity and i wanted him to age a little more. A lot of the trades now require some form of school work, most attend night classes at ccac to complete their training.
