Default Dormont Area Bars

So I just moved to Dormont, near the Potomac T station, and I'm wondering if there are any good bars near by for a single mid 20's guy to start exploring?

I see one on Broadway, Alberts, that I'm not too sure about, a pool-hall on Potomac, and then there's a few here and there on West Liberty. Are there any good suggestions for ones that are within walking distance or maybe a couple of stops down on the T?

Any suggestions/opinions are welcome.

I'm not too familiar with Dormont but if I had to make a suggestion, I'd say take the T down to Station Square and check out the bars there (most of those have covers) or walk a couple blocks down from the Station Square T stop on East Carson Street and venture into the many bars of the South Side (most of which do not have covers).

I would assume you're much more likely to find people your age in those areas than Dormont.

About 100 years ago, rather 17, my good buddy and I did a walking tour of Dormont bars starting with Cains. You would be amazed how many bars there are on West Liberty Avenue. It's mostly big-hair type women that frequent them, but what the hell, the price is right. We hit about 5 bars until Potomac, turned left, hit a few there, than took the T to Mt. Lebo for a few more. Good time.

I met my future wife at the Vasta on West Liberty in Dormont! But that was 9 years ago, haven't been there for a long time. The Apple Inn down the street was always pretty busy too.

Cain's, Apple Inn, and Slapshots are happening spots. There is something like 15 or 16 bars in Dormont, so feel free to explore them all.

15 bars? Are these places sh*t holes? Dormont is looking better and better to me for buying! I like a few cold ones after a hard weeks work. And its walkable! Perfect.

I live about a block down from Albert's. If you are just in the mood to drink cheaply, then check it out. It is never that busy, but at $2.50 mixed drinks, it is hard to beat. It is cash only though. Breakers is pretty lame most of the time: the bar is small and you can only drink beer in the poolroom. No smoking in the pool room either. The Apple is always a good time, and I am in my mid 20's. Wilkie's and Sam's I have no been to, but their clientele seems to be older. The Vasta is a pretty decent club-type bar on the weekends. Slapshots is small and pretty packed on the weekends, but generally a good time. I haven't been to Cain's since the renovation, so I don't know much about it. The Suburban Room is frequented by mostly people who were of drinking age in the 80's and haven't ever quite got past those years. Mexi-Casa has a pretty good bar (and awesome food), and it is non-smoking. Senor Frogs (which used to be Malone's) is a lot of fun, depending on the crowd. It tends to get pretty urban after 10:00 or so. They have a dance floor, etc. in the side room and a pool table and dart board in the back. I don't know if it is technically Dormont, but it is easily walkable from where you are.

I may have left some out. Like I said, I am in my mid-20's and haven't really found a need to venture outside of Dormont for drinking. That being said, I have been to Station Square and the South Side, and I typically find it a bit too crazy for my tastes. If you are looking for girls dancing on bars, etc., you won't find that in Dormont, but I have always had fun when I have gone out.
