We get our cats groomed at the 5th Avenue location Humanoid is speaking of (it's called the Golden Bone), and have always been really pleased with the care they take with our fuzzy beasties. For us, the kindness of the employees and the quality of their work matters more to us than the aesthetics of the building's exterior.
We don't generally board our cats (we get a sitter instead), but if we had to I would consider taking them to the Golden Bone.
However, I agree with the recommendation earlier in the thread to just shut them up in a carrier or cage in a quiet room during the moving process.
