Hi...I live 15 miles north of Pittsburgh in the Township of McCandless. Great Schools (North Allegheny) and very low crime (if at all) in my neighborhood.

It is funny...my husband will start working in Sanford very soon. So, do you have any recommendations on the Orlando area? I've been researching Lake Mary and think that is where we want to be, but it seems to be a bit expensive. Thanks.

I'm partial to Oakmont where I spent the past 18 years. It's ten miles east of Pgh. along the Allegheny River. The only crime I know of there is the outrageous school taxes.

It's always been known as an old folks type of town. It's very well maintained and has a park alongside the river withplay areas for kids, tennis and basketball courts, picnic shelters, etc.

There's about 80 houses for sale there as I write this. Most people bailed out because of high taxes., the Allegheny County and local school. Boro taxes are low.

Every area has some thing that can be approved on. I lived in Mt Lebanon for 14 years and had very few incidences of crime.

Default thanks

Thanks everyone,

I went to Pittsburgh and visited so many areas like Shadyside, Squirrel hills Oakland, etc. I think it's a beautiful city and has a lot to offer. Every area has its good and its bad ( advantage and disadvantage). Coming from central Florida myself, I like certain things about Florida and hate Hurricanes-Humidity. I know that Pittsburgh has severe cold winter, but it is no comparison to what people in some parts of Florida go through during a storm or a hurricane. Life can turn downhill very quickly during one of those unfortunate natural disasters. Ask me !!!! I have lived there for 20 years and have been through it all. As much as I like the weather down there, I can not go through another one of those monsters. I guess what I meant to say is that I am moving back up North ( also lived in NY for 5 years ). There is always a trade-off. You just have to go for whatever suits your lifestyle. By the way, does anybody know about Bridgeville. I went there and found a beautiful townhouse to rent. I don't want to buy a house until I live there for at least a year. Any info on Bridgeville would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone...

Default Crime

Yes even in Mount lebanon they had shootings a few years ago that guy went on a killing spree. Put it this way no where is safe. Look under crime rate and the name of the area you want to move to it will give you some what of an idea on just how safe it is.

Hi. I live near Bridgeville and go there occasionally. I've always liked the area and have been familiar with it for the last 25 years. Lots of nice shopping areas and places to eat. Traffic can get congested in certain areas, though, esp at certain times of the day. I don't hear about much crime there at all. You can easily access I-79 from Bridgeville, which gets you to a lot of places, and you can get to Pittsburgh pretty quickly from there as well. Winters here haven't been that bad lately, not like they used to be. Watch out for high property taxes here, though.
