Anyone remember Dan Cortez, AKA "the Burger King Guy", MTV, some sitcoms and movies?

He's from Sewickley.

Yeah, I do. I remember thinking the guy was gonna make alotta noise. He had the looks, don't know if he could act or not, but how much does that matter in Hollywood now anyway? I thought it was Joe Cortese though, Italian not Latino. Could be wrong though.

Speaking of Italians from the Burgh, the Scotti Brothers were from there. Big time record producers ten plus years ago.

No. I had forgotten about him. Thanks for reminding me! That was some valuable real estate in my brain that had been freed up.

Sad end.

Donnie Iris, the Skyliners and Lou Christie, right! He was the one who sounded like Frankie Valli, right? Yeah, alotta people don't know that about George Benson, one of the best of the BiBop guitar tradition, he went to Schenley.
Both Staton and Sullivan have several youtube clips. Staton in particular (she died this year), was a superb singer.

The head coach of Greenbay is from pittsburgh, so is Marv Lewis, coach of the bungals.

Curtis Martin

Larry Brown (not the Steelers OL man, but a RB for the Washington Redskins in the early 1970s) also was from Pittsburgh. So was Ray Zellers I believe (went to Pitt and then played for the NO Saints and maybe another NFL team).

There actually are quite a few pro sports player from Western PA. Jin Brady was from near East Brady I believe. There are a lot more famous actors and actresses from the area as well. There's one who recently had a cable talk show (cannot recall his name; I think his first name is Robert and he haiuls from Highland Park). I can't recall all of their names. My great uncle would know their names though.

That's one thing I miss about Western Pennylvania. Everyone tends to be friendlier and willing to help when help is needed. I now live in Southern California (sadly). Totally different story here. Everyone needs to use Head and Shoulders Shampoo-cuz there's flakes everywhere .

Didn't Dan Cortez briefly star in a sitcom with Carmen Electra (back around 1994 or 1995)? Either was a pilot that wasn't picked up or was cancelled.

I think Bill Cowher is from Pittsburgh . He's sort of famous (jk).

Gus Ferrote is from Ford City. Art Howe is from Shaler Township (going back a while).
