Sewickley/Fox Chapel
I was in Mars, Pa over the weekend talking with some residents as well as previous residents of Wexford. We were discussing potential areas to live and Sewickley was brought up. There seem to be so many good things about that area (small "downtown" shopping area, quaint location, cool older homes), but it is obviously a very affluent area. That being said, the statement was made that one person knew of people who had moved out of Sewickley due to the "uppity" factor.
Can anyone comment on this? I have also heard this about Fox Chapel. I don't know if we could afford to live in these areas anyway, but it just seems a shame that nice areas should be avoided if you don't want to be in that kind of enviornment. If this is true of Fox Chapel and you choose to live somewhere in their school district like Aspinwall or O'Hara, do you still have to deal with this issue?
Thanks alot!

Aspinwall, O'Hara and Indiana Township are considered normal to Fox Chapel Boro residents - people who live in Blawnox, Sharpsburg etc (whos kids go to Fox Chapel schools) are beneath the Boro residents. The "Boro" residents are in a world of their own but, they are in the minority.

Sewickley/Fox Chapel
I grew up in Sewickley. Had friends in Fox Chapel. There are many new Nouveau Riche in Sewickley these days who think they own everything, including the road. They are rude, uncaring about others and obnoxious. But there are still many nice down to earth people too. There are groups to join in town where you will meet both types. But there are many many caring loving people still in town. I believe the children mix well together, but it has been 7 years since I had a child in school there. When my son was little, he joined the Sewickley Area Soccer teams. There, Sewickley Academy and Quaker Valley children played on the same teams. He made many good friends at both schools and they have remained close all these years. So, it all depends. I would hope your child would be able to do the same.
