Regain its past glory as one of the ten biggest cities in the country and the world's industrial center? I wouldn't count on it. Becoming the next Portland, OR.? Very possible.

I do not want to see Pittsburgh become a Portland, OR. Have you heard or seen anything concerning the teen drug and homeless problem there?

That's why they should come to the Waterfront...just kidding. Yeah, I don't want anyone to discover PGH's little secret. The next thing you know Californians will take over and then come the strip malls...

Ha...should have clarified it. I actually chose Pittsburgh over Portland, a city I'm familiar with, having lived in Seattle for 5 years. I mostly just meant that they are already comparable size-wise, if not population-wise. All we need here is their light-rail system, a giant bookstore and a few more independent coffee-shops. Trust me, I don't want to live in Portland and it's reassuring to see that other people here don't want it either. Maybe I should have said that we could have Portland's REPUTATION as a wonderful place to live.
