I personally dont give a #$%$ who brought me over. I'm Here, Deal with it. If you took it personally, that's up to you. makes me no difference. And I was talking to Chuckles1821 in regards to those ignorant thoughts and remarks. All I'm saying is let us be. Quit worrying about what we are doing. Just as you said, it was not "you" who brought us over, so why should "you" be worried about us. You don't makes us or break us. When you start paying my salary and bills, then I'll take note to what you are saying! Until then, just hush. Our crime rate is definitely unreasonable but you dont even know why! You assume. You cant ever say you know how it feels because you never will, ever!!!!! The crime doesn't pour over into your area, so keep your horrific ideals that you know nothing about to yourselves. Aveojohn, I didnt lump you in, if you feel that way you lumped yourself in. I wasnt directing anything against you, it that chuckles fool i was talking to. I dont hate anyone but I cannot stand to see this. This makes no sense. My children are raised just like other races with the exception of teaching them hate. It's people like you that create the next generation of racists. This needs to stop. All this talk about our neighborhoods but not one of you would dare take a step into it. You dont know what we face, what we go thru, what we deal with, why? Because you are not black!!!!!!!! So stop trying to figure us out because you never will. I have never needed "the man" to help me out with anything. Never took a penny from the welfare system, but that does not count right? Did you know that there are more single white females on welfare, and the statistics do show that. Is that a reason to start a post for that, no. I could care less, I have too much going for me in my life to worry about these ignorant ass people on here, but I had to post, I could not take it one more minute.... Get a life and grow up!!! To Chuckles1821, I am special and will always will be. I hope you start thinking of yourself that way as well. God Bless you all and hopefully you wont pass this ignorance to your kids and start teaching them better or they will be in the same boat as you...

Look, I'm not trying to pull the slavery card. All I was saying was "white" people did bring black people here. I did not direct it towards a single person because I can't. That was many years ago. What I am saying is stop this race card thing. When we talk about the different neighborhoods, it's all about the blacks and we feel unsafe..We feel the same way when we go into your neighborhoods, but no one can see that. We are individuals just as you are and we have a right to speak what we want. i can go back and forth all day, but fortunately I have a job and dont have time for this. For those that can respect what I am saying, thank you. For those that cannot see out the racist box, you know what you can do. Crime happens everywhere, if you live in an impoverished, low income area, black, white, red, green or brown, there will be crime. Stop blaming us for everything. We get blamed for enough. I raise my daughter to treat everyone the same and she loves everyone, but as long as we have these *******s in the world, this will continue.
As far as helping, there is a lot that we can do. Donate some time to a school in one of those areas, show the kids that they can have a future no matter what background they come from. My mother and father were both crackheads, I am a very successful black woman and will never let that hold me back. But some need to see that there is another way. Some only see the streets and dont know what else is out there. I help out at the soup kitchens and food banks and let me tell you, you can make a hell of a difference, especially when they see another race is actually trying to help and not hinder them. Think about that, then tell me what you do to help out.

Typical liberal rant, ExPit.
And to quote zip95, "Didn't they house people who were denied access to unions, and access to loans, and access to jobs, and access to quality educations, and access to housing in good districts??? So in your brilliant analysis, it's ok to systematically deny the benefits of capitalism to an entire race of people," what a bunch of malarkey.
Why do you think the economy is in its current shape? People who shouldn't have had access to loans, credit, etc. got it anyway, ran up the bills beyond what they could afford, and now we are on the verge of a recession due to the mortgage mess, stagflation and other factors. Didn't matter if they were white, black or purple, they did it and now here we are. More goverment bail outs to keep the economy from totally collapsing.
It all comes down to individual responsibility and these days, not many people, white or black, want to take responsibility for themselves or their family. They are always looking for someone else to blame for the misfortune.
To get back to the topic at hand, exercise your 2nd ammendment rights, take a handgun training class, purchase a nice carry weapon and apply for your CHL. Believe me, you will feel much safer no matter what environment you find yourself in. I lived in the apts. at the waterfront for a couple months when my company moved me back to PGH from Houston. Never felt unsafe down there but that was 2005. Since then, there have been a rash of breakins in the cars there but that is most likely druggies looking for a quick buck. You can't escape that anywhere as in my nice, middle class, mixed race neighborhood in Hempfield Twp., we have been dealing with the same problems. Seems as though there is a key connection, the perps got caught and they lived in the Section 8 townhouses just down the road. Poverty, white or black, will lead to this.
But on a brighter note, compared to crime in Houston, it is like living in la la land here in Pittsburgh. After the transplants from Katrina (not that it was great beforehand) came there and never left, crime rates across the board rose significantly.
Prayers are sent out to the young man's family who recently lost his life at Damons. May the criminal be caught, tried and hopefully, the death penalty put to good use.

So in your brilliant analysis, it's ok to systematically deny the benefits of capitalism to an entire race of people. It's ok to implement laws and policies that ensure the playing field is as unequal as possible. And then, after all that, you'll be shocked that the government mandated ghetto is poor...then you'll blame the ghetto for its poverty. You'll conviently forget that despite the centries long attempt to box-in an entire race of people...that in today's America, the majority of blacks have escaped their officially enforced poverty with many now members of a booming black middle class. You'll also conviently forget that a huge percentage of whites (who were never systematically oppressed) are pisspoor trash.
Instead you'll see one black guy on Fox News blaming white people and you'll remember the last time you drove through Homewood. And then, in your infinite wisdom, instead of judging people on the content of their character you'll decide that "as a rule" black people blame white people and are poor.........spectacular.
My personal feeling is that attitudes like this are often rooted in some sort of inferiority complex or something. It seems like the mentality is.....if I associate my self with the elite in Sewickley and Fox Chapel, and I associate those other people with the lower echelon in Homewood and Wilkinsburg...then I can feel good about my self even though I personally never did anything.....I don't know if that's you...it just seems like a somewhat common train of thought.
So back to the original post.....It's fine to fear for ones safety in bad areas (I'm certainly scared in meth-riddled poverty-stricken Fayette county). It's fine to question Waterworks security and lament the decline of Homestead. It's even ok to make fun of poor people (ghetto-fablous, trailer-trash, etc)....It's not ok (and not intelligent) to try and make everything a race issue.....That just shows an inability to see reality and interpret historical fact.

By the way you didn't mention where you live. It is funny how people throw the word equality around as if we were truly all equal.Under the law we should be treated this way,and I agree, but in reality we aren't all equal. Some are smarter than others and work at jobs that reflect their level of intelligence.Others are not so smart and do the same. Then there are those that are borderline retarded and can't do much more than push a broom or wash dishes. So what do we do with these people?Housing is not affordable to them,so we stick them in a low income village or hi rise where they are exposed to the dregs of society, drug dealers and addicts, pimps, hookers ,etc. These people have no hope of ever amounting to anything so some of them start getting involved in the same type of activity.Unfortunately some of these people will be with us forever.Unless parents become responsible for their kids then this vicious cycle will continue.Education is the only way out of the ghetto and it all begins at the elementary level and at home. I could go on and on,but I think you get the picture. So, what have you done lately to improve the situation?

I almost feel like there's a language barrier between us, Kenyaa. I am confused by most of what you write and I don't feel it makes sense.
You can say all you want about people not knowing you and your struggles, but you don't know anyone else's struggles either. I think you are being extremely hypocritical.

Yeah, until you have to use it, and then if you get caught and are arrested, and right or wrong you will be, and also prosecuted and probably convicted, how safe will you feel doing your time, in a place where everyone around you white or black will want a piece of you?
