I hear that, and I'm far from a pacivist myself. If anything, in my youth I was too quick to fight; but you do get to the point I think where you see nothing good comes of it.
We can arm everyone, why not, have a shoot out and the fifty per cent left will carry on; probably both blacks and white that will have no choice but to lay down their arms if only out of mourning. I don't know, truth is I was a true hot head in my youth; no punk at all with alotta martial arts training and even competed in full contact kickboxing for a couple years. I'll tell you one thing you find out is that those guys, and I trained with some masters, some famous guys that if you know anything about it you would recognize their names, and what I found was those guys are last to get into a street fight, which gun play in my estimation, is an extension of; now if you can't handle yourself with your hands then I can see why you'd be more afraid, more likely to pick up a gun, but is that the answer?

I probably won't post after this as, this conversations is a little low-brow for my tastes. But I had to mention one observation. You've got Aveojohn (an old white guy from the ghetto mad a black people) and Kenyaa (an old black guy from the ghetto mad a white people)....
I think that says volumes.

I speak to all, if you put your head up and grab your purse, that's on you and I will not lose sleep over it. I just want to stop this black white thing and put it into a people perspective, but I guess thats too hard.....Have a good night

Obviously I did not want you to know what my thoughts were or I would have elaborated on it. I just said you guys are racist and you are...the truth hurts...No matter how you put it, through all these threads, racism!!!! Get over it. We we brought over here by you, now deal with it. We are here to stay just as you are and should be treated equal. Your thought and opinions do not matter to me, I live for myself and not what others think. I see there are a lot of others out here with us.

Actually, something like 90% of white people were brought to North America in chains, as indentured servants. Also, white people (the rich 10%) were able to bring black people here because they were sold to "us" by other black people, in Africa. Chew on that for awhile.
The Waterfront isn't bad, for a strip mall.

If you don't think you have an advantage being born white in this country, you're nuts.
It would be great if the country was like the NBA or MLB or NFL. When a coach or executive gets fired, color is never mentioned.
my two cents

If you mean that being born into a comfortably upper-middle-class black family puts someone at a disadvantage to someone born into a p*ss-poor Appalachian white family, I have to respectfully disagree with you. It's all about class in this country. The powers that be (a tiny group of mostly white mostly men) have historically promoted racial divisions as a way to keep people occupied while they rob most of the country blind. First it was the Democrats, then it was the Republicans, and now it's pretty much both parties. Race is just a smokescreen. If you don't have a piece of paper that shows you're accredited (not necessarily educated) by a university, you're pretty much screwed. Last time I checked, it was illegal to deny someone's application for being "of color". Except one color, of course.
To keep things on topic, the poor white kid mentioned above is much more likely to wind up robbing and/or shooting somebody in Homestead. So much for "privilege".
Full disclosure: I'm white (born at the very bottom of lower-middle-class with the free school lunches and second-hand clothes), but I was raised in a black step-family, so any trolls who brought up racism in the first place can keep the accusations to themselves.

Although I agree with Copanut in the sense that I do think that racism continues to be a problem in this country, I also personally feel that socioeconomic class is a stronger catalyst for negative outcomes in America these days. SES and race are often strongly correlated, which often makes it difficult for people on the outside to determine whether it is the "black" part or the "poor" part that is the cause of a social problem (although this is a complicated and correlational relationship also). But I personally suspect that "poor" is a bigger problem than "black" (or hispanic, or whatever).
