Jokes aside, my grandfather (healthy 71) died when he hit a horse with his car, but that's different. Horses are domesticated.
I did come close to hitting a deer one morning, on Brighton Road, of all places. Come to think of it, I came REALLY close to hitting a deer in the middle of the night on the turnpike while moving up here. My girlfriend was behind me in the moving van, a desk got obliterated in the ensuing sudden stop.

Once I was stopped at a stop sign with a drop on one side and an embankment on the other when a deer jumped down off the embankment, hit my car and ran over the drop down the hill....
Yep -- I was hit by a deer. Dented my car door with his hoofies and bent my side view mirror before he bounced OVER my tiny Sentra....

I have been to a polish tavern, Bloomfield Bridge Tavern, which I loved. Cant find Zywiec here in Texas, but they had it. Such a tasty brew.

Live in North Texas now....
What I miss about 'daburg?
#1 HILLS and Trees and REAL grass.
#2 rain... we've had over a week of 100+ degrees, what I wouldn't give for a good ole PA thunderstrom.
#3 snow...good snow, like 3ft where no one goes anywahere and you sled down the street.
#4 The wildlife in my suburban Peters yard...DEER, Turkeys, chipmonks, bunnies, squriels, BIRDS (woodpeckers etc...)
#5 SARRIS ice cream... haven't found it's equilvant anywhere...still searhing.
#6 Kennywood... just got back from sixflags and yes it may have some bigger faster coasters...but it can't compare to the atmosphere at kennywood. AND...no WHIP!
#7 Fries on everything...salads and sanwhiches! Whoever first put fries on a salad..GENIUS! yes you get very odd looks everywhere else in the country when you put fries on you salad.
#8 GREEK festivals....yummm
#9... seeing the ethnic clubs in the small towns etc...the slovak club etc. REAL community feel to the neighborhoods... not just houses put in etc...
#10... yes..WDVE (we have CD's that friends send us to listen to!)
I miss pittsburghese an' at.

The People. So nice here. Will actually give you directions, say please and thank you, will say hello to complete strangers. Just amazing to a girl from Philly! And low "snob" levels...most do not think they are better than anyone else.
Low cost of living. Being able to buy a 3Br brick house for under $150k. Beers under $5. Dinner and wine for less than $50.
That view coming out of the Ft Pitt tunnels. I've done it a hundred times, and still love it .
