Steelers115 will become famous soon enoughSteelers115 will become famous soon enough
I love a lot of things about this city....Isent a place on earth id rather be from or live...but im going to name my top 10 that are really unique to pittsburgh.....

1) Memorys growing up of reserving a parking space with a chair in the winter time.
2)Primanti bros.
3)Steelers...and living in the best sports town in the world.
4)History...Pittsburgh may have more history than any other city in the U.S. From the rise and fall of american steel, to all the pittsburgh first that most people dont know about, to washingtons crossing, and the many more things that i left out.
5)Words like yinz, perogies, gumbands, chipped ham, jagoff, and many others being part of everyday life.
6)Being able to wear black and gold to work on fridays no matter what you do and were you work.
7)the food....if i didnt workout i would prob. be 500 pounds from living here
8)The people
9)The fact that almost every family has a close story as to how there ancestors ended up here
10)The weather... i like 4 seasons, i like snow, i like fall, and i dont like it being sunny all the time.

I have to agree, I like the fact that the Pittsburgh area has real seasons. Fall is my favorite, but winter nights, right after a sugar snow.... magical. Especially when you stand real still and get the occasional bunny or deer wandering in the moonlight.

My second favorite thing about this area is the how beautiful it is when you are driving. There is a show stopping view around practically every bend. Outstanding!

I am back in the Dallas area after spending two months in Beaver County and I frankly just can't wait to move there permanently next spring.

The house we bought is near a nature superhighway (gully) like most houses in this area. Which means my third favorite thing, backyard deer and bunnies! They come up to visit the neighbors garden. And as an added bonus.... we have more fireflies back there than you can shake a stick at!

Moving from Texas (the economic utopia according to people on this forum) to Pittsburgh (recession 24/7, no jobs, shrinking while crumbling to dust according to same forum)? Good for you!

I thought North Carolina was the economic utopia.

I find your nitpicking laughable. Of course, I meant to say the Sun Belt.

Hey, it's about time we got a new smiley. SSP forum has like 3 pages of them.

Because I'm tired:

I grew up outside Pittsburgh in a very rural area and will be visiting next week for the first time in about 20 years....since high school. After reading this thread, I am so excited to get back - your words made me home sick!

Perhaps Pittsburgh just needs people like me to help it make a come back. Frankly, I have endured 26 years in Texas, I lived and will live in Pennsylvania.

Texas has quite a few of us energetic northerners leaving it. I plan on hitting the stateline so fast I will cause a change in the weather pattern.

TheSpouse and I will have an income, so I don't really mind what kind of job I get. I might take this time to do something I like, rather than something that pays better.

That's exactly how we came to town, and I absolutely love it here.
