My husband has to go to a convention at the The Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh in 2 weeks. we were just told about it and have to make hotel ressies. Where can we stay that is reasonably priced (less than $175) but within a short walking distance? On the map some hotels don't look to far, but we've never been to pittsburgh and don't live in a city, so we don't know how far a block or paralle road is. He won't use public transportation and he won't have a car/bike.
thanks

"The Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh"... IS a hotel connected to the David L Lawrence Convention Center.

Does the Westin have rooms in your price range? They should.

The Courtyard by Marriott is very close to the Westin & the Convention Center.

i've been checking on line and i think ALL the hotels in the immediate area, courtyard, doubletree, omni..etc have increased all the prices d/t the union convention. so the best price is way over 200..which I wont pay..work wont reimburse that high. ANyway, most hotels on penn st. or surrounding..are booked. I'll still have to call the hotel to double check. Any other suggestions!?! I think we wont be going! to heck with work..they shoulda given us more time.

How about SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh North Shore ?

It isn't that long of a walk... and sometimes they have rooms during conventions as out-of-towners often would rather not cross rivers. They have a nice free breakfast too...

There's also The Priory Bed and Breakfast on the North Side with a shuttle service to downtown, and the Marriott Chatham Center and Ramada near the US Steel Tower. On the near South Side, there's a Sheraton Station Square and a Holiday Inn.

The Priory is right across the river from downtown in the East Allegheny neighborhood called Deutchtown. Historic district with renovated Victorians, some nice restaurants, and within walking distance of downtown (walk across the Rachel Carson Bridge). Station Square is one of those "festival marketplace" developments in an old train station/freight house with Hard Rock Cafe and lots of restaurants and tourists shops. The Gateway Clipper fleet docks there for river tours of the city.
