Default Point State Park

Hi everyone!
Was just wondering if anyone knows whether or not you can get into the park or if they are still doing construction on it. I've been to Pittsburgh a slew of times and I absolutely love it! At the end of September I'm bringing a friend with me - she has never been to your city. Anyway, was just wondering if we will be able to get to the fountain or any part of the park at all?
Thanks for the help

just ran there this morning, some of the park is open. the big grassy areas are not. You can still walk the paths around the river and the fountain.

Good luck.

Not sure what you mean by get a "car" into the park. My experience is if you want to visit the park, park your car on the Mon Warf and walk. The lot at the Post Gazette was close by too.

Where did i type about getting a car into the park?
You never could get a car into the park, could you?

I've always parked near the Hilton and then walked in.
I meant is there still so much construction that inhibits you from walking around in the park - especially near the fountain......

According to MM, you can walk in parts of it despite the rehabbing.

slamont - what is the Mon Warf? I feel like maybe I should have known that already. Is it easier than trying to find a space in front of the Hilton?

I was there the other day, fishing! The "front" lawn is open (across from the Hilton) and the sides all the way to the Point. The middle part (with the fort outline) is still fenced off, but it's opening back up in October.

All you need is a fishing license to fish in Pennsylvania (well, a fishing pole and bait would help!).

If you're particularly interested in a Pittsburgh TriAnglers event, they welcome the participation of members and non-members.

The mon warf is a big parking area right along the Mon River under Ft. Pitt Blvd. It would be a short walk from there to the park and anywhere else downtown. I think finding a space next to the park in front of the Hilton would be impressive. I wouldn't count on it. Another option for parking would be station square.
