Default Verona?

Is Center Avenue the main road of Verona? What is the housing like on that road? Any general comments about the Verona area? Thanks!

Verona is alright. Stay above the tracks. I think the farther up the hill you live, the better. The main road is the main street, Allegheny River Blvd. which will take you straight to Pittsburgh. You can consider Verona Road a main road but there aren't many if any houses on it in Verona. A little farther up are some nice homes in the Rosedale section of Penn Hills.

In the center of town is South Avenue and at the end of town is Center. They are parallel and both go up a hill and level out at 2nd Street. I think you get a lot of house for the money there and I noticed some duplexes for sale at good prices, land, off street parking and some had garages and under $75,000. A good selling point is that it's in the Riverview (Oakmont) School District. If you have kids they'll get a much better than average education. There's an elementary school right in the middle of Verona which used to be their high school.

The main street is a bottle neck for traffic. The two block long town has two traffic lights. There is a small shopping plaza at the edge of town with a large modern supermarket and several other stores and a bank, state store, Chinese food place, McDonalds, etc. Verona has a lot of potential that it's never been able to realize. Most of the housing there is old but well cared for.
