Default Motor Vehicle - Tracing VIN

Hi All,

I need help.
I just moved from Richmond,VA to Pittsburgh, PA
Why is it so complicated here in Pittsburgh for a car registration ?

First, I need to go to DL center to get a Driver License, then I have to go to Motor Vehicle which is located in Harrisburg,PA which is 200 miles away..
In Richmond,VA we just go to DMV Center.

Another option is I have to go to messenger services like AAA, but they charge fee for that.

When I first time called PENNDOT the customer service told me to physically trace VIN by my self (using a pencil and a piece of paper), but the second or third time I called, they told me I am not authorized to do it by myself and have to use messenger service like AAA.
But what confused me is that, When I called AAA, they told me to trace VIN by myself ? ! ? or... I have to go to mechanic service to do that..
but either PENNDOT or AAA have no idea where can I find those service.

I tried to trace myself but It's so difficult coz It's on my dashboard, and besides PENNDOT told me I am not authorized to do that.

Wow.. that's really make me stressful ...
Please help...
Thanks..

You can trace it yourself and then give it to the people at AAA.

Who told you that you have to drive to Harrisburg?!?! That's nonsense.

I'm surprised at all the people having so much trouble registering a car here. It was not a big deal when I did this 2 years ago. Seriously, just go to a local neighborhood messenger service and they will take care of everything for you. Don't even bother with AAA. It's well worth the extra expense to avoid all this stress and it's only a one time fee. Also, find a DMV location in less crowded areas. I went to the one in Bridgeville and walked out with a new PA license in 45 minutes.
