For crying out loud people - this forum is like the movie Ground Hogs Day - it's the same thing over and over and over and over again. Remove the sticks from your asses, ditch the left winged moderator, and have some freaking fun. Debate is healthy. This isn't Russia or China (although some of you left winged fanatics wish it were). Speak your mind! - THIS IS WHAT THESE FORUMS SHOULD BE USED FOR.

I also think its disgusting that some insurance companies pay for abortions !! I'm close to this person who had an abortion and her insurance paid for it, no other problems, just an abortion. Now thats bad !!

I always figured abortions belonged in a hospital. Where would you have them performed?

Oh, well -- see -- my nine times great grandfather, Jacob Seiler, emigrated in 1749 to Pennsylvania. He got a land grant in Bedford County (now Somerset County), near what became the town of Meyersdale.
There is a Saylor Hill Road in Meyersdale. And a family cemetery. And a heck of a website about it. Google Jacob Seiler -- tons of refs come up, but look for the ecsaylor.org website.
A lot of my family is from there, or thereabouts -- Daddy's side is from Hyndman, PA, Londonderry Twp, Bedford County, with a smattering of relatives in nearby Allegany County (NOT misspelled) in Maryland.
Oh -- Kat -- I got incredibly lucky -- seems my great great grandfather on my father's maternal side made quite a name for himself, doing well in farming, and running for school board. He was a prominent citizen.
That's not bragging. In genealogy, that's a GOLDMINE. Lots of newspaper articles and his family is well documented.
Any how -- that means I'm not 259 -- my Pennsylvanian roots are...

We, as a country, HAVE to get past this. It's tying us up and tearing our country apart and we can get NOTHING ELSE done.
Since most women in the country lovingly welcome babies, I respectfully suggest this -- it's legal, get over it.
We have FAR FAR FAR more pressing issues than abortion to tackle, and it just galls me to hear intelligent people waste more time over an issue that was settled 35 years ago.
And if you think the Republicans really care about this issue -- they had both a Congress and presidency to change this rule, up until 2006 -- most of Bush's two terms -- and they didn't. Barely even tried. Because it's a MAJOR fund raising issue, because it's such a hot button issue. They know they can bring down the big bucks with this.
So stop being a sheep and deal with today's more important issues like the deficit, terrorism, wars, health care, disappearance of the middle class....

This is the most sensible post in this entire thread.
I'd like to add that you could replace the word "abortion" in the above post with "gay marriage", "Janet Jackson's boob", "vibrators for sale" etc. and it would still be just as true.
People need to get past this obsession with sex and things involving sex in this country and MOVE ON already to more important issues. And yes, the politicians (particularly the Republicans) are totally manipulating, using, and lying to the sex-obsessed portion of the citizenry to get themselves re-elected year after year. I wish people would wake up about that fact already. Please stop being fooled: they really don't care about what you think about homosexuality, abortion or anatomy except at election time, and they know that if they raise a stink about that kind of stuff in October you'll come out like the sheeple you are and check their name on the ballot next month. Hell, I doubt they even care about gun control or other so-called "liberal" issues - they are only interested in keeping their jobs and passing legislation that make their corporate buddies more money.

But if you are going there for the typical birth, try another hospital. The Birth process is supposed to be a special time and is treated as such. Magee is so used to it that it's just another procedure for them. So unless you have complications related to the pregnancy, go to another place for the Birth as it will seem more important and special and not so atyipical like it is at Magee.

Even with complications, I'd still not recommend Magee. I speak from personal experience. I would rather bleed to death on the street than go there again. I didn't like it before I went - based on reputation alone - and I absolutely loath it now that I've been there. Out of the some 3 dozen workers I came into contact with there, I found NOT ONE of them to be compassionate, caring, or personal.
I'm not surprised at all by what you say re: abortions.
