Default WI-FI in Pittsburgh

Just wondering how this works....I have laptop that is searching and wondering if I am outside the range or just exactly what are the parameters or signals.....I guess asking for some tech help.

Though I'm not a true techy, I can tell you that you are more than likely out of range. Or any neighbor that may have wireless has theirs blocked so no one can pick up their signal. Also, a wireless USB adapter helps in gaining signal strength. But all of downtown is set up for free wi-fi, and there are many hotspots for it throughout the city, mainly the busier commercial areas.

Where downtown are you when your computer is "searching" and not finding a signal?

I think he was just speaking in general, wasn't specifically downtown. I was just stating that it is set up for it
