the other kind
What I meant by the 'other kind' is other than black.......or as gnrpenguin put us Hill District folk............'all black bad ghetto people'......
By the way.........I had thoughts about all the comments and judgements mentioned on this thread and realized I am just as guilty as all of you are.......I apologize.......it's not even worth getting worked up over opinions because they are going to always be expressed!
And Drover..........only thing I will miss about Pittsburgh is my family! I just got back from Charlotte this weekend and wanted to return to Pittsburgh only to get my children and go back down.......it's a different breed down there that I got used to! I did Pittsburgh for 35 years........it's been time for a change for my husband and I!
Wish you all well.........I'm off of this!

At least, Mrs. White admitted that she needed help too.

If you like Bullets And ghettos
Move to the hill district. Otherwise, there are TONS of nice neighborhoods taht are just as convenient and not nearly as dangerous.

Are you looking to move to the hill district for affordability? Or are you willing to spend some money? As Hopes mentioned earlier anyone can live at the edge of the Hill District. As a matter of fact some rather affluent professionals live in those homes. A Pittsburgh Steeler actually lives there and I know that for a fact as his child goes to the same daycare as my son. There is also another apartment complex called Washington Place nearby. There are several white people that live there. It is right across from Mellon arena but it is way expensive. I am black and I would never live on the Hill as it is often referred to. The public transportation in Pittsburgh is reasonable and there are many other areas where you could live with a peice of mind and take a quick bus or trolley into town. So unless you are willing to spend the money to live in the areas mentioned above I say NO to the Hill District.

Crawford Square is a great. safe place to live in the Hill District. It is within walking distance of downtown. A mixed community of blacks. whites and Asians.

To PPG; Things has changed since you last saw that many people on Centre Ave. and Kirkpatrick. I see white people walking from Sugartop (upper Hill) to downtown every day. While the majority of whites do live in Crawford Square
(lower Hill), there are a few who have chosen to buy property in the upper Hill.

I frequent every part of the Hill regularly. I also worked on Webster ave. and Bedford. I have family in bedford projects. Never saw any whites up sugartop. Never saw any whites beyond crawford square. Sorry, maybe I have poor eyesight.
