hey guyloke, Im an ex Pittsburgher who loves Seattle too. As beautiful as some parts of Pittsburgh are, they cant compare to seattle and the surrounding area. What's funny about Seattle is, It's like the Pittsburgh of 100 yrs ago. Except, its built on white collar jobs instead of blue collar ones. Some of the world's richest men live there (like the steel tycoons of the burgh), there economy took off from basically one industry (computers tech vs steel), etc. The terrain of the cities can be kinda of similiar too. One thing I will say about Seattle is, the men of that city are SOFT! Alot of Frasier types and MARY'S running around them streets. Not throwing a dig at u either cause your gay. Im sure your skin's a little thick anyway. Being gay in the Burgh I wouldnt think would be easy. And ya, its VERY expensive out there.

Aren't we talking about job market? Let's get back to the topic in hand, shall we? Good schools, yes. Engineering, meds, nursing. You name it. But when it comes to retaining those superb graduates with superb education in local employment in local job market, Pittsburgh is rated dead last. I agree with OP.

before complaining about the economy, one should describe
1) What their profession is
2) What their major in college was
3) Their career experience so far.
You never know, because there could be people whom
1) Main profession is complaining on the internet, and selling items out of their parents basement on Ebay for a few extra bucks.
2) Majored in Under Water basket weaving
3) Never once had a serious job, and has no professional experience or social skills in any way.
I am not saying that this is anybody here. However, Pittsburgh has been adding jobs, and the job market is good even in a recession for people of many different fields.

I once read an article in the P-G, that Pgh is having trouble keeping the docs after they finish med school. Someone was going to set up a loan forgiveness program for those who would stay. When I have some more time, I'll search for that, b/c I posted it here on CD. That's not to say they couldn't stay if they wanted to, of course.

Oh, there are lots that just don't want to add staff. This is especially true of medical residents. There are only so many slots.

Not really. I live in Denver, where you posted earlier today (or was it Colorado?). I used to live in Pgh, so I visit there occasionally.
