Question Help! Live in Pittsburgh, walk to PNC Park

I would like to move to Pittsburgh, work downtown, and walk or take public transportation to PNC Park each night for the game. What are my options? It's more expensive to live downtown, but closer to PNC. How is public transportation to PNC (or near the Clemente bridge)? Gateway Towers might be too expensive for me. Does anyone know the association fees for Chatham Towers? Would it be better to purchase a condo or home further out from downtown and take public transportation? Are there better options like living in one of the many neighborhoods and taking public transportation? Would you recommend homeownership vs condo etc? I'd appreciate all advice.

You can get a restored Victorian row house in Mexican War Streets for around 200k and walk to PNC Park and downtown. Don't let the naysayers tell you the North Side is unsafe, either. There is crime in pockets, but there's crime everywhere. I would have bought there had it not been out of my price range.

www.MexicanWarStreets.org!
Is it true that most of those restored Victorian houses are owned by corporations (spell rich philantrophic community) and rented out to in-transit employees?

That's a new one! No, the houses are owned by people who like to live in Victorian neighborhoods and like the amenities of city living. There may be a few that are owned by companies for employees, but it would be a very small percentage.

There are many neighborhoods that would fill your bill. Walking distance to Downtown is very doable from the North Side, South Side, Mt Washington and others. There are some places locally where Condos have been built near town but so many homes are also available, you'd have to explore all your options.

Living anywhere downtown or in the southern neighborhoods, you'll have subway/light rail access to PNC Park.

Not yet! You still have to walk over the bridge. Soon enough, though I wish they had extended it somewhere useful, like Oakland, or Allegheny Center.

Isn't that ridiculous? Oakland is the third largest central business district in PA and they decide to bore tunnels under the river for a billion dollars instead of connecting downtown to oakland.

Now now, it's only half a billion.

Or maybe I'm wrong, I'm too tired to go check.
