I guess that would depend on which store we're talking about... the economy in general has forced Kaybee Toys and Steve & Barry's to get ready for closure, and Ruby Tuesday's has already shut down.... but that's due to their corporate directives, more than to anything site-specific...

^ It isn't designated as closing on their site. Hillcrest and Westmoreland Mall stores they say are closing soon.

No, S&B's is still open for now... but S&B's all over are closing down...
And with the retail season sucking and blowing as it has, I'd expect another 4 or 5 stores to close there in Q1, 2009...

I can 't wait to see some numbers for the Christmas season; South Hills Village Mall was packed this season, even on days you would never expect.

I would love to see some REAL numbers, but for some reason, the news sources, mall owners, research, have to add "fluff" and always make it worse then it really is.
For the economy being so bad as they say, which is bull****, there was a ton of traffic two days before Christmas, and as well yesterday, plus when I was in shopping lines waiting, the average customer checkout total was well over 100.00.

From my experience working @ C-III, just because you have alot of people in the mall, that doesn't mean they're all spending money... alot of times, you have three or four people walking together, but only one of 'em's shopping... the other three are dead weight, so to speak.
The economy really IS that bad, also.... many people I know aren't spending like they would have, even 6 months ago, and this has a ripple effect on everyone else down the chain. We were even told to lighten up on some of the cleaning maintenance that I thought was desperately needed there, because they want us to save the labor hours.
As Cheech & Chong once famously said, "Things Are Tough All Over"....
