I'd recommend assessing each article on its own merits instead of simply dismissing it because you don't think much of the source. Skepticism is warranted whether the source is Time or the Financial Times.

The emerging narrative about Pittsburgh comes from a variety of sources, some more reputable than others. But any I article I've read on the subject is much better than the baseless assertions Humanoid posts. Whether we discuss actual hard numbers or detailed anecdotes, his version of the economic landscape doesn't stand up. He simply dismisses anything positive, which is much worse than any of the tripe that Time has published.

I was watching a CNN financial show Sunday morning and they were saying what I have thought all along: don't quit your job! Not a good time to go job hunting. Blah, blah. Now they are probaly no more reliable than Time, but it makes sense to me.

I think that's sound advice in just about any economic climate. It makes sense to me as well.

This is simply not the case. If Pittsburgh's economy started to do well it won't hurt me, why would I "simply dismiss anything positive". I wouldn't and I don't.

Pittsburgh has essentially been in a recession for decades, that is what happens when your city slowly declines.

Posting that Pittsburgh has essentially been in a recession for decades is no better (probably worse) than the accolades heaped on by the likes of Time or BusinessWeek.

Give us something more than just you say so. How about some data?
