Default Pittsburgh job market increases in August

Pittsburgh keeps bucking the trend, we're up in August as well, .3% with, as the national average is down yet again, .2%

I thought I recently read that August was a very poor month for Pittsburgh and that Pittsburgh lost several thousand jobs, I must not have been reading closely enough. LOL.

If you are in the engineering field or other related technical field (QA/QC), you are living the "good times" right now. Westinghouse, Bechtel, Wabtec, Alstom, Union Switch; they are all hiring.

In case you have been under a rock laely, the infrastructure as a whole, in this country, is falling apart and you have it made if you are a civil, environmental or structural engineer.

Wow, that's amazing. One tends to think of health care as "recession proof".

Let's see...just in today's news, I learn that UPMC may lay off workers, PPG is closing plants and laying off workers, the Post-Gazette plans to buy out or lay off some of its employees.... and that's just in one day's news.

And, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Pittsburgh's unemployment rate is 5.3 percent, which is hardly cause for celebration.

Anybody out there got a free weekend to help me move? I'm serious. I can't find a job here to save my life.

I know it makes me laugh on this forum. You have a nation in an economic crisis, and people come on here complaining about how Pittsburgh is so horrible and they can't find a job.

In my short time on this board I've come to the realization that it's impossible to post good news without people ripping it apart.
