I'm not sure if PNC would want to acquire National City, although I've heard rumors they have been in talks, too.

National City only has a strong presence in Western PA and Ohio, places that PNC already has a strong presence as well.

It would be silly in my opinion to buy National City and then have 50 of the same bank in one city competing with one another, lol. I dunno, you would think they would rather diversify their portfolio with that kind of investment.

My friend works for PNC, and he said National City is going down the tubes within 7 months or so. I just take that as heresay and don't think it holds much merit, but you never know. If National City does tank, I am seriously going to be upset, because that will be the fourth time that my bank has been bought out by someone else within the past 10 years. I originally had Three Rivers, then they were bought out by Sky Bank, and then THEY were bought out by the most atrocious bank in the world, Huntington. I closed my Huntington account last month and opened one with National City, because I heard good things about them. And I like National City so far; I've had no complaints. I just really hope this is all panic talk, since there's been so many banking and economic problems recently.

National City is a good bank, I've been with them for years and have never had a problem or any compaints. It's a shame......

So, PNC is acquiring National City. What does that mean for the National City building Downtown? What about National City HQ in Cleveland?

I know but I find it hard to believe they're going to have all those people from Cleveland move to Pittsburgh for HQ. It'd be great for our population numbers, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I think it would be great it one place grew in the area that wasn't Cranberry. But none of the articles I saw said PNC would move Cleveland workers I think that would be great for us though. And National City is not only in Ohio and PA but in a lot of ht Great Lakes and Mid West states. I wonder what will happen though to National City banks here, because I doubt none of them will close if a PNC is near by.

haha touche...I was just telling a friend that suburban living in Cleveland is a little different than Pittsburgh. Cleveland is much more commutable.
