Red face Pitcairn

Can someone tell me why I would not want to rent/live in Pitcairn? I see that it's an older area, but the crime levels really seem relatively low and the school seems to be acceptable. My husband has just accepted a job offer in Monroeville and we'd like to be able to move somewhere where we can save some money, but not have a long commute. I like the Murrysville area, but it may be a little more than we can spend at this time.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Pitcain is an old railroad town and is kind of run down in places. You should consider Irwin and some of the outskirts of trafford. They are reasonably priced and a reasonable commute to Monroeville. Are you renting or buying?

It looks like you did your homework for deciding on Pitcairn. Murrysville isn't a community to think about when you want to save money and the lights/traffic on Route 22 makes it a long/slow commute to Monroeville.

Plum Boro might be considered. It's huge and parts of it are almost in Monroeville. The school system rates a bit higher than Gateway. It has enough of its own shopping that Monroeville and all its traffic can be avoided although Plum has plenty of its own.
