Help, I need to find a church....
I am getting married March, 2010. I am already divorced, (so I cant even think about going to a catholic church )
Does anyone know of any churches that will do a ceremony that do not care if you have been divorced?

Do you go to church? If you're not a churchgoer, getting married in a church doesn't seem like a big deal. Why not just get an officiant to do a ceremony where ever you want, like the park or city hall or a friend's backyard?

I thought about that, but it is at the begining of march, and I didnt want to freeze outside. Plus, I will have about 150 people. I would have to rent chairs and such...
But thats not a bad idea......
I think the Gateway Cliipper does them, I should check them out........

You have a year to find a church you like and to have the minister get to know you.
If you do not plan to be a church-goer, don't get married in a church!

I third fleetibelle and Pitt Chick. Many, if not most, Protestant ministers will not marry people who are neither members of friends of their church (friends meaning people who visit but don't take out official membership). Some will. But again, why not just do it in a hotel or somewhere?

Hey Heather. . . . .I'm Episcopalian (or, in other words, "Catholic-Lite"....), and if you talk to a priest in the Episcopal or Anglican churches, you might be able to get married in a very catholic-esque service (Rite I or II) with only a short counselling from the Father.... much better than getting a special dispensation from the Bishop, eh???

Are you willing to go outside the city a little bit? I know of a little church in Port Vue, Port Vue United Methodist Church. I don't know their rules regarding divorce, but I attended this church several times when I was younger. If I remember correctly, it has a center aisle (good for weddings) and a reception hall and Sunday school rooms (good for getting ready and for a reception, if you want to have your reception there. Many Methodist ministers will marry people who don't go to their church, especially if the people will agree to a couple of pre-wedding counseling sessions or meetings of some sort. It may be worth looking into.
Edit: I just remembered that I actually attended a wedding there years ago where one of the people had been divorced twice. It may be a different pastor, but the minister probably follows church rules. So, that probably means it's ok at the church to remarry after divorce.

You could go to a Catholic Church I never heard of anyone being denied a wedding because of a divorce (I'm sure they realize there are just times it has to end I hope). Just don't mention it to them. IMO Catholic Curches are usually the most grand of Christianity.
