Last year, I came up for Kennywood's Phantom Fright Nights and the traffic was horrendous....My friends and I sat on the parkway for literally about 3 hours...

Has the traffic been as bad this year? Any tips for avoiding it? I've been recommended to take 837 the entire way, but I figured i'd ask for help here first.

I haven't gone but a friend said it was absolutely awful off the Edgewood/Swissvale exit. Spent more time waiting in traffic than they did at Kennywood. Find your detour and use it, for sure.

part of the traffic tie up is the ranking bridge is half closed
you are better off going rt 30 and go through mckeesport and 837 that way

and of courst plan on at least an hour wait for every attraction at kennywood

so get used to sitting in traffic
wether its on 837 or in line for the steel phantom
it is all the same

It starts at 7. I'm driving up from Wheeling (about an hour away)...if I left really early...say 3 or 4, would that reduce the traffic problem? I thought we could get an early parking spot that way and just hang out and pack lunches.
