So I just moved here in August and am looking for a doctor in Shadyside or Oakland (covered by UPMC). I tried just picking one off of the list my insurance has but that didn't turn out so well. The place was kinda shady and the doctor was way to quick to just write me a bunch of prescriptions and didn't seem to care about actually fixing the problem. If anyone could recommend me to a good general practitioner, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I've only seen him once, but I like Ya'aqov Abrams. He's in northern Squirrel Hill, on Wilkins next to the CVS.

I just moved here recently too and have UPMC. I've been seeing Lori Bigi in at UPMC Montefiore. She's cool and easy to talk to, and the office is really efficient (plus they have their own lab and stuff right there for taking blood and running tests and what not). The location is great for me because I lived in North Oakland and I can just walk right over, plus tons of bus lines go right in front of the building.

Making an initial appointment can take a while, but thereafter it's not a problem getting seen whenever you need to be. There are multiple physicians in the practice and they always have slots kept open and clinic hours so if you like, wake up sick one day and can't go to work and need someone, you can call and get seen that afternoon...that was important to me because that's something I was used to with my doctor back home.
