A light RAIN falling here at 8am in Oakdale. About a half-inch of snow on the ground, if that. No 2-4 here either!

Yeh they ( KDKA, WPXI, WTAE and the NWS-Pit ) totally flopped on this forecast in Pittsburgh. Missing not only the snowfall but also the temps as it stayed above freezing for much of the time.

It seems that the lake-effect snow is harder to predict.

This was a terrible forecast. All the snow fell on THE HIGHER PARTS OF OUR HILLS!! That got me mad and when I had to go up there last night, they probably had a little more than 1.5 inches. What a flop! Esp. for valleys and lower elevations.

We were told up here that we were going to get 5-7. Well, the grass is barely even covered! Looks like we have the same people predicting our weather.

Now 5-7 inches and grass still showing up... that's a major league miss.. And for sure 'Lake Effect' snow is a wild and very hard local climatic thing and hard to forecast in advance for specific snow and local amounts. But they are very consistent in missing the temperatures and just giving a bad standard forecast. 2-4 inches for Pittsburgh !
Give me Bob kudzma or Joe Dinardo any day. The ones on air now are all of the same mold.. and they can't hit a forecast like the Pirates can't win.

I hope we at least get a nice white X-mas this year. The winters have been too warm for my liking. The snow is why I moved back to the northeast. I am feeling I have to go to canada at this point!

According to all the early forecasts...there's a very good chance we'll have a White Christmas this year (their definition: at least an inch of snow on the ground).
"The good news? White Christmas dreams will likely become reality this year. "
