The sun actually peaked through just a little bit ago, the first time I've seen it in 4 days

That's strange, Winter Storm Warning is posted on the TWC, with up to six inches of snow. Has been posted since early in the afternoon.

Question is : will the warmer air once again move north just in time for the next system-storm. The NWS seems to think Pittsburgh will stay in the colder air and will have decent snowfall, perhaps mixed at times with some sleet. As is typical with Pittsburgh winter storms a few miles south maybe rain and snow while north all snow. Hope we get the snow event !

A couple days ago the 6 o'clock news was scrolling the evening school closings. It was warm and raining. What was that about? Same thing on the 11 o'clock news a week or so ago. Scrolling of the places with a 2 hour delay in the morning. It was in the 50s and nothing happened. Get a sexy weathergirl in a bikini and I won't mind being lied to. If these weather guys they have on now make more than minimum wage they're overpaid.

PeterRabbit I hear ya. And trust me the pay for the head weather folks on tv here is pretty high and along with that, great vacation time. ( 4-10 weeks off ) It truly is one of the best jobs out there.

Default Heavy Snow really ?

For you snow lovers ! For Pittsburgh this is about as close as we get to a 'real snow' The cold air is in place, moisture thick storm developing from the southwest of us and should stay far enough south not to warm us up to much like most times. Think we can get better than 4 or 5 inches out of this one ??

Yes, this could be a good storm! The current official NWS forecast says 2 to 4 inches possible tonight, and 3-5 inches possible tomorrow. So, at the high end, we could see 9 inches of snow? Well, I'll believe it when I see it...lol

7-Day Forecast for Latitude 40.45°N and Longitude 79.95°W

I remember growing up in the 90s here, and we always had atleast 3 big storms. Big being over 20 inches of snow. When I moved back to Pittsburgh, and even during college, we never get anything anymore. A 6 inch storm is a blizzard anymore. If there is enough moisture to make a big storm then it is never cold enough anymore. I love big snow storms. It makes things exciting. I would rather have a big snow storm, and take a snow day off of work than just a mild, rainy, crappy winter day.

I'm looking forward to the snow, but I'm not looking forward to going to the grocery store after work. It's a legit grocery run--I'm not just stocking up on bread and toilet paper.
