Bakery Square?
Does anybody else know what else is going to be going into Bakery Square? I heard they are building a 2-story Target but I don't know what else is going to be there. Any news?

The Target isn't actually part of Bakery Square. It'll be at S.Penn Circle and Highland, the block across from Kelly's and Abay.

I thought Target was going to go where the last high-rise is now - across Penn Avenue from the East Liberty Busway station. There are two hotels and a parking garage going into the block across the street from Kelly's. One of the hotels will be in the old Highland Building, and the other will front Penn Circle South. The parking garage will be in between the two hotels on Highland.

Wow, thanks for mentioning this. I was completely unaware this was coming! Looks really neat...

...and they even make mention of at least some of the construction being LEED certified which is great. I live in Oakland and I head to that area two or three times a month to do a lot of my grocery shopping (Whole Foods, TJ, and two Big Birds all close together FTW). It would be extremely convenient to have a Target closer than Waterfront and some other eateries and stores there, plus lots of renovated housing is always good.

Bakery Square
The new Target is going to be built at the site of the old high rise building on the corner of Penn and Penn Circle East. It is being built by The Mosites Company the developer of the Whole Foods center.
Bakery Square is the former Nabisco property that will other other exciting shops and restuarant such as Anthopologie, West Elm Furniture, The Container Store, Pottery Barn, Urban Active Fitness, Ugly Tuna and many more.

Summer 2010.
And wouldn't this be a great location for a Crate & Barrel.

They originally were on schedule to open the retail section later this year, but I believe they pushed that back to next spring in order to allow more stores to open at once. I'm not sure about the hotel, offices, and so on.
