You should take a defensive driving class. It makes a huge difference when dealing with that type of situation. Also insurance companies give you discounts if you take a class with a qualified instructor. Call your company and ask about it.

Thats pretty much how I drive everywhere, expecting people to do the wrong thing in traffic.
I work at the South Hills Village Mall, and yesterday, as I was walking in to work, I saw a HEAVILY damaged suv in the parking lot. There had been a terrible crash in the parking lot. Now that's bad, if you can't drive in a parking lot, you shouldn't even be allowed behind the wheel, period.

here's my experience with rohrich collision center
so my car got wrecked into the week before thanksgiving
quarter panel, trim , new rim, paint, 3400$ in damage (the other guys insurance paid)
it took 3 weeks to even get it in the shop
and then it took 16 days to get it back
there is 3 spots where the paint is flawed
the window tint has a scratch in it
there is greasy handprints all over the interior in the back seat
and a very sloppy job at cleaning the car up
the body work turned out good thats about it
all in all i would not take a used bicycle to that place let alone a car that is only 7 months old
the car was in mint condition
i know it was cause i do all my own detail work and im very good at it
now it looks like $hit
be sure i am going up there on friday and im going to tell the body shop manager about it
the car is ruined cause some a$$hole hit me and the body shop did a $hitty job fixing it
i figured take it to the dealer cause they would fix it right
well i learned my lesson

What's wrong with that? I have two cars and am pretty anal about them.
One of the first things I noticed after moving down to Pittsburgh is that there is a large percentage of people down here who don't take care of their vehicles and have no respect for others vehicles. What's even more sad is you see higher end cars where people are to lazy to clean the brake dust off of their front wheels and the wheels are all scratched up and curbed.
I enjoy driving and am proud of what I drive. I take great issue with others who have no respect for other peoples property including cars.

I would never own a nice car living in the city. My car gets banged up just sitting on the street. It is one negative thing from living in the city.

Ugh, I am sorry about what happened to you. I used to drive around downtown Pgh a lot for my job and I got hit several times. It was always the other guy too. Once a postal truck backed up into me when I parked behind him. He kept flooring it until he looked in the rearview mirror and saw I was the reason he wasn't going anywhere. Almost killed my client too, who was getting out of the car at the time. Trying to get the post office to pay for my smashed front end was no picnic!
By the time I was hit for the third time, I concluded it must be the color of my car. It was silver, just like yours. I don't think other drivers notice it like other colors. May be a crazy conclusion, but when I got another car, different color, I wasn't hit again. And my husband, who has a black car, never gets hit and he is downtown every day.
I hope everything works out for you. If I'm allowed to say, Arlington Auto Body was great to me and did a good job on my car, and I was there a lot!
