Default My visit to Pittsburgh!

Hi...I just wanted to say I recently came back from a visit to Pittsburgh and I loved the area. I thought it was a beautiful city with the rivers and bridges. We drove in at night and saw the bridges and rivers as we made our way to the Station Square area. I stayed at the Sheraton there and really liked the people there. I had been told that the people in Pittsburgh were friendly like those in Raleigh only not Southern...and they were right! PS the Pierogi's and Primanti Bro's sandwiches were great. It was funny to see 4 stores selling the same Steelers gear...all within sight of each other.

Thanks for the fun although quick experience!

I was originally like you before moving here, but Pittsburgh is not that great after you move here and the blinders come off. Lots of problems and flaws hidden underneath the pretty lights.

Yes,here are problems and flaws... but every city has 'em.

Pittsburgh is great, even after you get to know her! (him? her? IT? LOL!!)

Glad you had a great time here, JQ Public!

some of the best advice I ever got was "no place is perfect, you just have to figure out what you can put up with." while charlotte is boring and uninteresting (from my perspective, and mediocre food) it is also clean and easy to get around (from my perspective.) Whether I would choose to live there depends o how I weight those things in importance.

I could not have said it better myself. Pittsburgh is a decent city (looks wise) at night. It has things to offer, but it is really run down in more than 50% of the areas -- including suburbs. After you've been here a while, it loses its quaintness. I don't know many people "scrambling" to live here. If not for my job, I'd be out of here ASAP.

Well that's you....The fact that Pittsburgh is actually producing jobs in this monstrous recession, I find it quite remarkable....We're stealing jobs from Cleveland as we speak.

Pittsburgh under going a renassissance, while other rust belts are decaying further.

Like everyone has said Pittsburgh has is downs, but there are plenty of ups (You just choose to ignore those)

Pittsburgh has its industries just like every city, its not a one city fits all.....Pittsburgh's job market is Tech, Health, Finanace, Service....I think this is the most diversity amoung jobs fields your going to get outside the big 3 NYC, LA, Chicago...Hell even NY is mostly Finance, Media, and Fashion that's it

WOW! What is your definition of rundown? I live in Regent square, and know all the east side. I would say there are run down neighborhoods, but 50%! WOW.

You must think areas like Lawrencville and the South Side are run down because they are built with those small little row houses in a tight urban way with late 1800s instead of suburbs in Scottsdale. That if you ask me those areas are 100 times cooler than Wexford.

Calling my town run down in half the area is just insulting. I am sorry this town is so ugly to you. I would suggest moving to a nice Suburb in the south, it will be much less run down and boring like wexford.

What you say is true. Jobs wise. We live in the Wexford area. We really like it up here. However, I still maintain my opinion about the way I feel some areas look. Some parts are very nice, I've been all over the city since moving here, I guess I'm just not used to it yet. My kids, on the otherhand, I think like it more than I do. They seemed to have settled into the school system nicely. Well, as long as my kids are happy, I'm happy! Ha ha ha
