We really had nowhere to go, and couldn't fall any lower. It is nice to see that Pittsburgh is finally rebounding though.

Nonsense. I haven't posted in the Pittsburgh forum in a long time.

For whatever reason people here aren't able to have meaningful conservations about their city.

Citation? And unless the strip district was rebuilt in the last 2 years...there is hardly anything there.

Pittsburgh's job market is not the same as how good the city is for entrepreneurs.

Why start a business in Pittsburgh (that isn't based on local business) when you can do so cheaper in other areas with much longer labor markets?

Pittsburgh is filled with with cronyism. So long as that is true the area will never be "hot". Start-ups don't have millions to bride Pittsburgh politicians.

I seriously never seen anybody on a horse so high. "Hey look at me everybody, I live in LA. I don't live in Pittsburgh anymore. I have a college education. I am smart. I know everything. If you post a article I will use manipulated facts to deny that article! Look at me, look at me. I just have to come to your forum to but into every conversation and turn it ugly. That is they way I roll"

God, I will be sooooo lucky if I am not banned after today.

Oh, well. This forum sucks anyways.

Yeah....this is what happens when you express a view about Pittsburgh that isn't positive. Absolutely absurd. Perhaps its the water....I don't know.

It's not that any of us don't wish to have a civil debate, or even dislike your opinion. It's the fact that we could throw statistic after statistic out there, and you will still believe what you want to believe. There's no swaying you.

And the water's just fine

have you been to cleveland or detroit? (not to mention youngstown)? they still haven't found bottom. Being part of PA is both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing in that the state is pretty, the climate somewhat moderate (yes, there are places colder than Pitt.), and the people loathe to change. It's not a boom state, but it appears to be fairing better than upstate NY. The downside is that like msot older states, it does have more than its share of corruption and, probably worse, BUREAUCRACY...that goes for its cities and the state. The income taxes are low, the corp taxes unacceptably high.

Very true, YOu are right. I never thought of it that way. I have been to Youngstown and Cleveland, but never detroit. I think one of the strongest asspects that helps Pittsburgh out more than those cities is civic pride.

You are completely right about the Bureacracy issue by 100%

Nonsense. I have no reason to believe anything negative about the city. If the city was a better place to do business I would have considered staying in the city.

This post doesn't not demonstrate that Pittsburgh's economy is "hot". The Pittsburgh economy is still fairly sluggish regardless of what is happening in the rest of the nation.

Pittsburgh like some other areas doesn't have first line exposure to the initial phases of the current recession. Unlike the 2001 recession which Pittsburgh had decent exposure too.

In time, Pittsburgh should be dragged down with the rest of the nation. It is my claim that Pittsburgh will continue to decline even while other areas start to recover. Nothing stated on this thread shows that my view is incorrect, of course I also haven't argued for my position either.

The Pittsburgh economy hot? Am I in the right forum? This is Pittsburgh, PA we are talking about, right?
I know of 7 people who have been laid off from different companies in the past year. The reason was either that the businesses were cutting back or closing. I would say the Pittsburgh economy is on life support.
