In the past few years everyone in my office has chipped in to give a charitable donation in my boss's name (instead of a gift.) Last year we did Heifer International, the year before that we gave to a charity that helped animals abandoned from Hurricane Katrina. This year we thought it'd be better to keep it local, since times are tough. Any recommendations of good local organizations, maybe some that aren't as well-known? Thanks.

The South Hills YMCA - Camp AIM. Amazing program that supports kids in our area with special needs to have a structured, yet fun camp experience every summer.

I was going to suggest The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank as well. They are seeing a rise in "withdrawls" from the bank given the economy.
