We are considering renting a house in the South Squirrel Hill neigbhborhood, but only have seen it through the web. How is this area? Is it hilly? Is it quiet? Is it kid friendly? HOw is the access to grocery stores and restaurants?

It is hilly in that area. You are close to the Beachwood Blvd entrance to Frick Park, which has a playground and lots of areas for the kids to ride bikes. You are also close to the Waterfront shopping and dinning area across the Monongahela River which boasts absoloutley all types of dinning and shopping.

Very hilly, close to the commercial area of Squirrel Hill (grocery stores and restaurants) as well as to the previously mentioned Frick Park and Waterfront. It's in a desirable school district as well. Lots of families with kids in the neighborhood.

If you're willing to walk a bit, you can get to some of the restaurants on the southern part of Murray Ave. without driving from there -- it's a bit of a haul, though. It's about five minutes into the Squirrel Hill commercial district by car, ten to fifteen to get to Shadyside depending on which part of the neighborhood you're driving to.

I live a few blocks from there. It is a nice quiet neighborhood, and is kid friendly!
