Default Tell me about Pittsburgh

I am a 22 year old looking to move out of Miami. I want to live somewhere cheaper and different. I am thinking of North Carolina areas. Also considering Pittsburgh because I hear it is very much a great place to live. But I do not have much info about it other than that it was named a very livable city. Is this true? Is Pittsburgh really great? I like good food, live music, and nice people.

Pittsburgh - has come a very long way and was really starting to take off on its 3rd make over until this nationwide recession put stop to many things.

The things I use to discribe Pittsburgh

- Big City feel and amenities without the fast paceness
- Very Low Cost of Living
- Revitalization all over
- Village Style neighborhoods
- Easy to make close friends
- Low Crime
- Tops in Education and Medical
- Expanding Tech Sector

The main complaint most people have of Pittsburgh is Job Industries - People dont understand that Pittsburgh is not a One City fits all when it comes to Jobs (No City is anymore).....

Pittsburgh's new main Job sectors are:

-Finance
-Medical
-Technology - Bio Tech
-Law
-Services

Hi, sunalsorises. I'm a 20 year old student at the University of Pittsburgh. I like the city, but am also planning to move to a bigger city after graduation, mostly because I doubt I'll be able to find the type of job I want in Pittsburgh (financial consulting / investing)

It has a lot of great unique features, like it's unique village-like neighborhoods which blackbeauty mentioned. It is much much different from Miami, so if it's change you're looking for, definitely look to Pittsburgh. Probably the most obvious difference is the weather. We probably get about the same amount of rain, maybe even a little less. But it is much colder here. January and February can be brutally cold, but overall it's pretty temperate.

There is a decent music scene in Pittsburgh, and it's slowly growing, but you may be disappointed coming from Miami

As far as restraunts, there are a lot of great options. There's a pretty good mix of ethnic food throughout the city - Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Indian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Mexican, French, Italian, Polish - really anything you can think of. There are cheap diners and delis, all the way up to gourmet, 5-star restaurants.

Feel free to let me know if you look into Pittsburgh further, and if you have any questions :]
