Does no local organization or company sponsor a Christmas light contest around here? Amusingly enough, in my previous hometown the electric company sponsored the contest - they were profiting from all the added electric use! Regardless, I didn't know whether a local newspaper, TV station, electric company, community group, etc. put together any list that somebody is aware of.

Actually for $8 a car load, the light displays at Lakemont Park in Altoona is the best I have seen and I have seen huge displays when I lived in SoCal. Harbor lights in Newport Beach, Long Beach lights in the Wrigley District, Torrance - Candy cane Lane. If you live anywhere near Altoona, your kids will love Lakemont.

If you happen to be in the area, there's a couple blocks on Verona Road in Rosedale that are above average each year. Nothing special except for a lot of lights. It's very bright there. In the summer this same area does their yards with flowers and landscaping that's nice to see.

An out of the way display that's worth seeing is on Rt. 380 East going toward Murrysville. Three houses in a row do it up big with a display that looks continuous and not overdone. Huge Bible, Rudolph . . . just a grand display that looks professionally done, out in the middle of nowhere.
