Default Baum-Liberty project delayed

This seems a bit silly to have such an important development be held back over two measly stories of a hotel. I am not trying to sound like I am not compassionate towards the desires of the residents that live nearby. It just seems that all too often community groups derail good plans. I'll assume these residents aren't NIMBY's(Not in my backyard) and want to see this city propsper. This would be a connection with Bloomfield and Shadyside. What is there now are vacant buildings and fenced in lots. This is a city. Cities have large buildings, The one guy is concerned that his daughter will have no where to play because of the traffic. Ah, move to suburbia then. Cities have traffic. I am sorry, but I have a different agenda than most. Developer pulls Bloomfield hotel plan -- for now

I don't care what the residents want. They are stopping progress in an area that desperately needs it. The developer has already given up too much.

The thing is, the project needs more floors so it can sell more rooms to justify the cost of the development. If they have to cut the # of floors, more of the space slated for retail would have to be used for hotel rooms. The loss of retail would be a loss of tax dollars and a loss for the community. It is very petty.

Johnland is on a distinguished road
And to use a six year old as an argument against a long term real estate development is petty and unrealistic. The child will be a teen by time this project sees the light of day, and by that point, will be too old for playgrounds. I mean, my God, how do children in Manhattan and Philadelphia do it!! Last time I checked, they had kids there amongst (gasp!) buildings exceeding 5 stories. I don't think staunching development so that a child can live without having to deal with city life is good for the kids.
